As MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) sees consolidation of its activities bringing on board a bevy of startups, incubators, mentors and COEs in its quest to emerge as a single biggest collaborative platform for tech startup community, setting up innovative partnerships and forging meaningful synergies with all stakeholders of the tech ecosystem in the country has been its primary focus.
With a rapidly evolving ecosystem of its own MSH has been undertaking a series of holistic programmes and initiatives to identify and award potential disruptive technologies and seeding the tech ecosystem.
Instituting “Grand Challenges” is thus part of the broader initiative of MeitY Startup Hub to drive new tech-driven business models and rapidly scale up prototyping of technologies. It’s a “win win” scenario with MSH able to scan new and disruptive innovation ideas coming out from startups and accurately profile emerging technology landscapes while startups receiving funding and recognition.
Challenges complement traditional innovation methods as the core goal of challenges is to come up with fresh ideas to solve business challenges. These pitching events are emphatic in a sense that they encourage budding and existing startups to recognize how they could make real world impact with a host of tangible and intangible benefits in terms of prize money, potential investment opportunities, networking & promotion, mentoring, visibility and developing the agility to work in a cross-disciplinary atmosphere.
The salient features of the challenge would be ensuring a pan India outreach with dissemination though MSH website, social media handles, mass mailers and direct communications, ensuring a level playing field through simple application process and anonymous judging to ensure that only the best progress through to subsequent rounds and keeping entrants motivated by visible rewards
The dynamic challenges would fast-track the development of many innovative products and inspire a multitude of partnerships and projects among the contestants, industry and government to address current and pressing challenges and finding the next generation of solutions.
